At the end of January 2026, Yadegar Asisi celebrates a new world premiere at the Panometer Leipzig with ANTARCTICA. The monumental 360° panorama shows the icy expanse of the white continent in all its facets – from mighty glaciers and shimmering icebergs to the fascinating wildlife with penguins, whales and seals. An impressive artistic production that brings the untouched beauty and fragility of this unique natural environment to live. 

‘Antarctica is a place of paradox,’ says Asisi. ‘It is the last great natural reservoir, yet it is no paradise. It is eternal, yet fragile. In its untouched vastness, it reveals itself to be fragile.’ The panoramic image plays with the waterline as its central perspective – towering ice formations rise above the surface, while the hidden life of Antarctica becomes visible underwater. The 32-metre-high panoramic view can be experienced from a platform that appears to be located on the water in front of the Antarctic ice sheet – a view of a world that is otherwise reserved for only a few researchers
